God has given us another beautiful morning in Jamaica. Full day of writing ...

God has given us another beautiful morning -- Jamaica is gorgeous today. Full day of writing. The instinct is to market, but the urge is to write, so I will follow the urge. Besides, my characters are just babbling away in my ear. Hope to finish by 4 pm to go for my walk and check on my new land lot.

Caribbean Cottage Move

New land lot: I have to move my Caribbean cottage to a new spot. Just sick about this; heartbroken, really re: losing my ocean view, not to mention all the concrete and blocks used on the initial lot. But the owner is selling the leased land where I started the cottage. (Leasing goes against every fiber of my being but not rich so this is the route to make my dream of retiring early in the Caribbean come true. This setback is a reminder that until you own, it's really never yours. But I will make this work. Owner said he'd compensate me when he sells.)

Finding the Positive

The bright side: The new lot is much bigger and over 70% cheaper -- I just can't see the water unless I walk down the path and go past Rick's Cafe (http://www.rickscafejamaica.com/sunsets.php), steps down the road from my lane.  Still Negril, still pretty, but God has guided me in a new direction for this project. I can move with His decisions ... faith, you know ... faith. And not a bad alternative to be in this paradise. Will just take my time and get cottage situated. My mind is turning, turning, turning ... this may one day be my income-producing "writers' rental."

No worries ... make it work, Cassandra. Turn it around and make it work ...

Debris Removal from Negril Lot

Today, having a little cleaning done on the new lot. Already have two sides of the fence run. Debris removal this week. Will check on progress end of day, then stop by and pay a bar tab I ran up over the weekend.

Mothers

If you're a mom, I hope you had a super Sunday. I "celebrated" on Saturday and simply relaxed on Sunday. You know, Lifetime movies and Law and Order SVU kinda day. Restful …  Highlight was talking to Mitchell, my handsome son -- can't believe he'll be 20 next month. Wow ... 20 years ago this time ... goes too fast.

Writing Time ...

Okay, off to my characters now. Inside the hotel villa now, but will move to verandah to enjoy the breeze in a few.

Enjoy your day, and make some good stuff happen.

Cassandra Black has released a new novella entitled Loving a Texan from New Orleans. The mini-novel focuses on one woman's fear of loving again.

Book Synopsis: She hadn't planned on falling in love on the trip to visit her daughter at Diesel Air Force Base. But there he was, like a ray of sunshine, in a tiny Texas military town. Hunter Wolf awakened feelings in Savannah she thought were dead. But could she take a chance, unafraid, after both their pasts?

Afraid to Love: Seven Fears and Ways to Overcome Them

According to an article in Psychology Today entitled Afraid to Love: 7 Fears and Ways to Overcome Them, people are afraid to love for many different reasons. The article discusses fear of love and goes into detail about successful ways to overcome. The seven fears highlighted include the following:

1) being afraid of disapproval
2) fear of commitment
3) being scared of loss
4) fear of disappointing someone
5) apprehension about being "found out"
6) fear of being consumed
7) anxiety concerning being trapped

Cassandra states her novella's main characters, Savannah and Hunter, seek to traverse some of the emotions discussed in the Psychology Today editorial. See http://www.amazon.com/Loving-Texan-New-Orleans-ebook/dp/B00BB1BBC8/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_1.

"The fascinating thing about writing is, through the process, I am moving, growing, healing, too, with each character, each story, that bounds from me."

Need to sweat out the "devil's juice" so my mind is clear to write today ...

Hope you're having a great morning.  I'm checking email, mapping day, handling admin for my writing and publishing business (http://www.stonecottagebooks.com).

Preparing to head down toward Negril roundabout for breakfast in just a bit. Forgot to pick up coffee yesterday for villa, so that has changed pattern of day.  Breakfast (need coffee!), at likely Juicy J's Restaurant.  Then, approx. 15-mile walk down Beach Road and beyond, toward Hanover, and back.  I'm not ready but gotta do it and will be glad I did when it's over. (You NEVER regret exercise.)

Need to sweat, sweat, sweat, re, let's just say I had TOO MUCH fun and Jamaican rum at 3 Dives Jerk Center last night listening to reggae music by the sea. Need to sweat out the "devil's juice" so my mind is clear to write.  Wow, what a great local band at 3 Dives!  Too much fun! Please pray for a sistah in what is sure to be a hot walk once that Caribbean sun gets to blaring. Enjoooooy your day -- you deserve it -- and make some good stuff happen!

Writing on verandah at villa in Negril ...

Writing on verandah at villa in Negril with Carib sea just in the distance.  Pretty morning, birds talking, flowers all around, sky clear as a bell. I'm ready for my second cup of coffee already. Up early today despite getting to bed little late last night.  Watched game (Miami vs. Chicago) at a local bar last night with big sis, a friend and a couple of rastas. Wow, what a game. Chicago showed out! Was rooting for Miami, but I think next one is Wednesday, so I will be ready. C'mon Miami!

We're picking up Miss D (a cute little five year old girl sis has practically adopted -- I'm "auntie") late afternoon and bringing her back to the pool for some fun in the sun. She's a hoot is all I can say.

The morning is already off to a good start -- full of writing. God is good. Beautiful day. Enjoy yours. Until next time ...

Having an absolute ball in Caribbean ...

I hope your day is going well. This afternoon I'm designing a book cover for big sis (Yuwanda Black, http://inkwelleditorial.com/about).  Her first romance novella will be out soon. Can't wait to read it!

I will walk to Negril's round-about (town area) a little later for some much needed sweating. Will then probably veg out near Canoe's (http://www.realnegril.com/canoe/) for a bit this evening, before joining a friend in a little rustic cottage at top of a steep hill overlooking the sea in distance. Stars are so big up there at night.  Words cannot describe the beauty all around.

I waffled on making the trip to Jamaica this time with so much on plate back home, but I'm so glad I made last minute decision to come. Life is so short, and I'm having an absolute ball. Will stay a month longer than expected to work on my little cottage in Negril. Finally got the fence run; now will start some plantings so hopefully I will have some bougainvillea foliage by fall.  Pretty flowers.

Enjoooooooy your day. Now back to sis' book cover so I can close up early, head for my walk, and relax at Canoe's. Until next time ...

Negril: Love the exercise, early rise, early bed ...

I hope your day is going well. Feeling really blessed this morning, enjoying this life I've carved out  for myself, in spite of so many things.  Of course, money's always a little tight; haven't "made it" yet; but feeling so rich in so many things, and if God took me tomorrow, I would not regret one iota of today. I hope this is life for you, too. If not, maybe consider changing some things ... I did:

This morning, I'm making contact with http://www.foreclosurecleanupconsultant.com contacts. This afternoon, fiction stuff and novel cover exploration. Will tie up things late afternoon to check on contractor at my Negril, Jamaica land lot (http://cassandra-black-author.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-caribbean-sea-is-gorgeous-today.html) -- contractor's clearing debris. Long walk afterwards, then will stop by what I call the "Cheers" of Negril to just relax and stare at the Caribbean Sea, looking for inspiration for new stories to tell in my books.

Love the exercise, early rise, early bed in Negril. God is good. Again, just feeling blessed.  Enjoy your day. Back to it ...
